Why we are doing our Initial Consultations Virtually...

The Coronavirus pandemic of 2020 has changed so much of our working life and some things, we think, are for the better! We honestly feel that having the initial consultation on Zoom means that:
  • You get a more efficient appointment; in fact, we’ve made it 30 minutes shorter to accommodate for this and passed the savings onto you!
  • You can record the consultation so you can watch it back later or let an absent family member hear exactly what was said. This removes any ambiguity.
  • Your dog acts naturally, which means we can get a better idea of what they are like when under normal conditions. You would not believe the number of times we’ve heard “oh, he never normally does that” or “she’s so good with you”!

Don’t just take our word for it, check out this blog here

Additional Follow Up Support Options
We can continue to support you while you work on changing your dog's problem behaviour with a range of additional follow-up support options (telephone/ Zoom or in-person), all offered at discounted rates and with package options available.  See here for more information.

Nigel has come on leaps and bounds since our behaviour session last month! We still have work to do, but the tension has certainly gone down a few notches. And our baby has arrived.... Nigel's been really good with him and hasn't turned a hair with the crying!

Gretta has helped me understand my dog and, with her advice, I feel more confident to tackle our dog's issues.  After just two weeks, we could see a marked improvement. Beforehand, I was ready to give up; now I am excited to get a calm and happy dog.

I actually had pretty low expectations as I wasn't sure that you would be able to help us with our problem but the Behaviour Consultation and report was really helpful and you are clearly very knowledgeable.  Thank you ever so much!

We found the behaviour consultation interesting and the written plan was very helpful and clear.  The behaviour package was excellent value for money and we're very grateful for your input.  We're already seeing a positive impact.

I just wanted to drop you a quick note to thank you again.... we have had considerable improvement.  We now have complete trust in each other.  Amazing really that it was all just down to reading those early warning signs.  Just brilliant!  Thank you again.

I just wanted to update you on Lottie; the change in her is pretty significant!  We are now able to pass big dogs off-lead in complete confidence.... there are so many possibilities opening up.  It has been wonderful to work on this with you and see her confidence grow.  Thank you so much for your wisdom with her.

Thank you so much for your time and insight into Oliver's behaviour.  It all makes total sense.  We can already see a huge difference and we have so much more to cover.
Thank you again;  he is a different dog already!

Gretta was very personable and knowledgeable.  She immediately put us at ease and was great with our dog.  She spent a lot of time patiently explaining dog behaviours which all made perfect sense.  We have begun implementing some of the things she showed us and are now starting to see some success. I would thoroughly recommend her.

Thanks so much for coming out to see us and for all your advice and tips.
It was nice to get some feedback from someone who understands dogs and I'm glad you got the measure of him, as he's such a lovely dog.
I feel happier that we've made a start to figuring things out.

A fantastic insight into my rescue dog's behaviour. Gretta was extremely knowledgeable about the mindset of my anxious dog and gave me lots of hope that with the right actions and behaviours we can work with him positively. She also followed up with lots of support and resources - Benson and I can't thank you enough.

Thank you so much for your visit yesterday and all the information you sent through.  I felt so much better from our meeting and I now understand his needs better. I have put in place some of the things you suggested and I think both our stress levels have gone down already, so thank you again!

Gretta was absolutely fantastic and has helped me and my dog (Jasper) a lot!
She took the time to really listen and understand some of the issues before devising a plan to start helping him. Thank you Gretta!

Thank you so much..... I got an incredible amount out of our session.  I have tried some of the things you suggested and already I can see the confidence and enjoyment he is getting from it.  I’m so encouraged by the improvements he’s made in the past weeks and days. Thank you also for sending through such helpful links.

GOOD TO KNOW

Our work is often covered by insurance policies due to our Lead Behaviourist, Gretta Fords', accreditation as a Certified Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CCAB) and Full Member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC).  Check with your insurer whether you are covered by your insurance so you can claim back the money!

All the information we need from you before the consultation can be gathered via our online portal
but if you don't have access to the internet, we are happy to do this over the phone instead

Further information about A Different Dog's Behaviour Support can be found on our FAQ page.

For some locations, a travel charge may be applicable - click here to check the exact travel charge to your address

THINKING OF GOING ELSEWHERE?

When comparing costs and services, remember to carefully consider:
  • the levels of skill, expertise and academic qualification of the person with whom you will be working (remember - anyone can call themselves a 'behaviourist')
  • what is actually included in the advertised cost (or, if it's per hour, how many hours will be required)
  • what you get BEFORE the consultation (why waste time - and money - going through your dog's history at the consultation when all the basic information can be gathered beforehand through our tailor-made online portal?)
  • what you get AT the consultation (where it will take place and for how long - it is important that we come to you in your home so we can see the dog in a normal context and help you to get the most out of the session)
  • what you get AFTER the consultation (written report/ action plan, follow-up visits)

We're confident that we excel in each of these aspects and that our behaviour package is first class; compare us with others and then, like our many happy clients, choose A Different Dog!

If we're not able to work with you or even if you'd just prefer to work with someone else, for any reason, we're more than happy to recommend other suitably qualified, experienced and accredited professionals - just ask!
