So, you’ve found your perfect breed and breeder - well done! Now you need to pick your puppy. Some breeders will use their knowledge of the breed and the litter to do this for you, whilst others will leave that choice to you. This should be one of the most exciting things in the world (and it is!) but many owners feel overwhelmed when having to pick out just one of the wriggling bundles of joy as their own.
Should I go for the most confident one? Should I pick the quiet one? What about the smallest one? Should I choose a male or a female? Should I wait for them to choose me?
Don’t worry - A Different Dog can help! We will go with you to choose your puppy and offer you guidance through the whole process. As well as helping you choose the right puppy for you, we can check that all is in place with regard to the environment in which the puppies have been reared and the experiences they have already had.
The Puppy Picker service includes:
Support on the big day
Basic visual check of the health of the puppies and mother
Observation of/ interaction with dam (mother) - and sire (father) if available - basic temperament check
Basic visual check of the puppies’ living environment (and discussion with breeder)
Discussion with the breeder about the litter and the individuals within it
Observation of the puppies and their behaviour
Guiding you in your choice based on the above but also taking into account your preferences and ‘gut feelings’
Checking the validity of what was discussed with the breeder during the Puppy Pinpoint (if you opted for this)
PRAISE FOR OUR PUPPY PICKER SERVICE
This is a critical part of the process of choosing a new pup because, when the pups are just weeks old, they all look so cute(!!) and it is exceptionally difficult for the novice to predict how their personalities and characteristics might develop. Gretta's experience and expertise helped us to identify the puppy who was likely to develop into the kind of dog who would have the key characteristics that we wanted. The result of all of Gretta's expert help, is our well-trained, confident, relaxed, friendly and lovable puppy. Albert is completely happy and content. We will always be grateful for her tremendous support, and are looking forward to working with her again when we get a sister for our pup.
