If you struggle to take your training from the classroom into the real world, Hound About Town is perfect for you and your dog!  By working in real-life contexts, from cafes to parks and shops to streets, we can coach you to get the best out of your dog.  
Maximum of 4 dogs ​so that we can provide the support and guidance that you and your dog need. 
For dogs that have been to Bronze/ Silver Classes or have worked with us One to One.

PLANNED SESSIONS:

Session 1 (Indoor Class):
Various activities to practise the skills that your dog needs:
  • settling/ relaxing
  • walking nicely on lead
  • waiting to cross the road
  • polite greetings
  • coming when called
  • good manners at a door

Session 2 (Retail Park):
A chance to put their skills into practise with 1:1 coaching:
  • walking around outside
  • going into a pet shop
  • meeting people/ dogs
  • visiting the vet surgery
  • visiting the groomers
  • control around cars

Session 3 (Town):
More opportunities for your dog to hone their skills:
  • recall at the park
  • play with other dogs
  • street walking on lead
  • settling in a cafe
  • meeting new people
  • waiting politely

​We all really enjoyed the course - it was great to get out of the classroom and apply learning in real world situations. We found it so useful in building up ours and Luna’s confidence that we would like to have more sessions.  It was also good to meet other like-minded owners and share stories.

​We really enjoyed these sessions and there was a definite improvement in Yogi’s behaviour next time I took him to the shops - I went to White Stuff and he followed me calmly, stopping when I stopped to look at things.  He was as good as gold until someone came to pet him - he still gets so excited around people!! This course has given us the right tools to improve his behaviour and I now feel more confident taking him to public places like shops and restaurants.  It is a great building block following the puppy training, especially since we got the chance to practice outside in the real world situation. Thank you so much for another great course!

The 'Hound About Town' course was fantastic; just what I (and my - sometimes slightly less than calm - dog) needed! He actually surprised me with what he could do; without Gretta's support, I would not have believed he could ignore the rabbits in Pets at Home or settle on the floor in the middle of Halfords. Possibly the best thing about the course was meeting the other dog owners and realising that my super enthusiastic, bouncy fur-ball is just a completely normal teenaged dog!

GOOD TO KNOW

Due to the nature of the training sessions, this course is only suitable for dogs which are comfortable with and friendly towards other dogs and people and do not have any specific issues with traffic/ busy places etc. 
There will be a maximum of 4 dogs per group for these activities.  If possible, please restrict the number of people per dog to a maximum of 2, so that we can fit in cafes etc. without too many problems.
